The bimmer has a name!

Last night, MrPilot and I finally decided on a name for my 1989 BMW 750iL. Her new name is: Freya. Why Freya? Freya is the name of one of the Norse goddessess, and she has a number of attributes that make the name a good fit for my car:

  1. Goddess of love and beauty (really great looking car)
  2. Warrior goddess (V12 engine, 300 horsepower)
  3. Her chariot is pulled by cats (I love cats)
  4. She’s from the same area that my name is (Fjord)

I’ll get some pictures posted to the photo gallery as soon as I get MrPilot’s digital camera working.

Bimmer? Wouldn’t it be spelled “Beemer” or “Beamer”?

Negatory. As any true BMW ethusiast knows, it’s spelled bimmer.

Nice. It took me over a year to name my car.

Hooray for naming cars! I’ve been shocked at how many people I’ve met at school who forget about that important aspect of car-ownership.

Oh definitely, almost all the cars my family owns and have owned have a name (except the van for some reason). Same with all my computers. Even my Palm PDA has a name (Tembo).
