jamesw, that does sound like a good plugin idea and like a perfect use of the d-bus system that I had applied to develop for Summer of Code. I didn't get the job, but someone will be developing the system. When it's finished, you could just have Pluto register on d-bus to recieve notifications of message events and then have it handle them however you want. Integration with other systems like this will be much easier when the d-bus system is in place, and I'm excited to see what all it will be used for, even if I'm not the one who gets to make it.

I think one of the biggest hassles with instant messaging is that it’s tied to the computer. If I’m away from the computer, like watching tv, I may miss an important IM. I can leave the speakers on the PC really loud, but then I’m always jumping up and running back to the PC to read an incoming IM in case it’s important. Most of the time it’s not. I can subscribe to a service with my cell phone

I considered the summer of code thing, but decided I didn't have enough time. It would have rocked if they had told us a month or two earlier...

Good luck on the bimmer (that's how they spell "Beamer" in the bimmer world). Zerg and I fixed Narf's driver's side window today- now it goes up and down! w00t! If we can ever get the hood up, we might even add some brake fluid and maybe even tighten the e-brake.

Thats a shame about the summoer of code thing, I wish you got on, as that would be an excellent opportunity to do some good in the world. On the other hand, that is the best documentation for changing water pumps that I have ever seen, and I have changed more than my fair share of water pumps. I am glad abU the Great was there to help you. Those german cars can be annoying to work on.

I'm sorry about the GAIM thing. It's definitely their loss.

Sorry to hear you didn't get onto the GAIM project. Would've been cool, but glad to hear that you are keeping a positive attitude and working on other things. :)
