On Sunday evening, I read The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. It was not a class requirement and wasn’t even related to anything in any of my classes. I read it purely for enjoyment, cover to cover, in one sitting. I can’t remember the last time I’ve done that, particularly not with a book that could actually be considered “good literature.” I think I’ve let myself get too caught up in the computer-age spirit of instant gratification. Even as I was reading it, I wanted to check my email, flip through my open browser windows, chat on IM, or any number of other distractions, but I pushed through to the end. I don’t like that it took a conscious effort to read a whole book in one sitting. I should do this more often.

That is a good book. We all are shades of grey.

If you get a chance, try “Till We Have Faces” also by C.S. Lewis. It’s one of my all time favorites.

LOVE The Great Divorce. My english proff introduced me to it when I was a freshman and I have loved it since. What a great story!
