Nordfjord
This week has been the culmination of quite a few projects I’ve been working on. One of the most significant is the computer I built for Microcomputer Design. It’s a Motorola 68000-based system running at 4 Mhz. A few other specs: 64K SRAM, 64K ROM, 9600 bps serial communication with hardware flow control, a reset switch, and most important, 12 blinky lights and a buzzer. Oh, and it’s name is “Nordfjord.” Look it up on Wikipedia.
By today’s standards, it not exactly a supercomputer, but it was still plenty hard to build! The class is one of the most difficult I’ve taken, but also one of the most rewarding. It feels really good to have a computer that I created from absolutely nothing.
